COMMUNICATION AND EMERGENCY INFORMATION
Before you arrive in Uganda you will be given local telephone numbers and email addresses where you may be reached in order to keep in touch or in case of emergency.
While in Uganda you will have access to a cell phone and email, even during your stay in the village. Cell phone connections can be difficult in some dead zones, but by moving around you generally will be able to get a signal. Email is available at local Internet Cafes and some local secondary schools. Email is unavailable when the electric power is off in the village, which can be often.
Used cell phones are inexpensive, usually around $25. You can purchase air cards locally in the village and call anywhere in the world from the village.
You can write letters home and receive letters to a PO Box in Kampala. Letters received in Kampala will be sent on to you in the village. Air mail takes about 8 days, normal mail takes about a month.
Should you for any reason need to leave Uganda immediately, we will get you to the Entebbe International Airport and assist in making any other arrangements for you as quickly as possible.
